The news today includes a report on a new bill that aims to reduce Cyberbullying among schoolchildren. According to Saul Hubbard of the register Guard:
“Senate Bill 1555 would require all school employees to be designated mandatory reporters of student harassment, including intimidation and Cyberbullying. School districts themselves would be responsible for setting the penalty for an employee who failed to make such a report.”
The passing of Senate bill 1555 serves to highlight the ever growing risk of Cyberbullying. People are now turning to the employees at our children’s schools to help put a stop to this behavior. We at MobileMinder agree that staff members at schools should be preventing acts of Cyberbullying and Sexting whenever possible; however we feel that it can be viewed as passing the buck. Parents should be making an equal if not greater effort to protect their children from these risks. Many children are receiving harmful text messages or inappropriate picture messages and it is causing huge upset. It is rarely the child’s fault. Children don’t always know the repercussions of their actions.
MobileMinder’s flagged words database and picture gallery features secure against these issues becoming major problems for children, parents or school staff. We are constantly trying to improve our service, so if you have any questions or feedback please contact us at info@mobileminder.com. We are currently being represented at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona and our CEO is appearing on Lifetime TV’s The Balancing Act on Tuesday the 6th of March to talk about how MobileMinder can keep children safe using their phones.
